Support Sunday: Episode 6: The F.A.K.E

Good afternoon Ladies & Gents, it’s Sunday, so you know what that means! Support Sunday Episode 6 is here!

For all my “day one” followers, you’ll recognize these two from my “Meet The FAKE” post, but for those of you who may be new to the blog, allow me to formally introduce you to Cjayy Prime & JJ The Lyricist, collectively known as, “The F.A.K.E”!

Cjayy & JJ are a young hip-hop duo from Zambia who have big ambitions to take Zambian music to the next level, and with the buzz they’ve been generating on social media, they look set to do just that. Currently under the watch of seasoned Zambian artist Jay Rox, they have an even greater platform to showcase their talent. The pair are on the rise, from just a few high school shows, they are now booked for several parties and other events around the country, and are becoming a common name among the Zambian youth. Cjayy is from Lusaka, while JJ represents the Copperbelt, hailing from “K-Town” (formally known as Kitwe), so there’s no bias about representation.

Originally focusing purely on traditional hip-hop beats & flow, The F.A.K.E have shown that they can be more diverse and can adapt their sound to appeal to different audiences, be it feel-good music (“Calls”), or even a more Afro-pop vibe, as they showed in their “Photosynthesis” single. If you’d like to sample their music, I made a little playlist on SoundCloud which I think represents their style and diversity pretty well.

The F.A.K.E also aren’t short of any visual content, and their recent “Happy Hour” video is a testament to their growth as artists. Top quality. They’re pretty cool guys, cool enough to put me in their music videos. If you’d like to see me trying (a bit harder than I should) to look cool, you can watch their “Sheta” and “Drippin” music videos by following those respective links.
